Meryem Uzamış Tekçiçek

Prof Meryem Uzamış Tekçiçek was born in 1967 in Konya/ Kadınhanı. She graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 1989 as runner up and started the Pedodontics Doctorate Program at the same university. She completed his doctoral thesis titled “Examination of the relationship between oral and dental health of children with juvenile diabetes and their salivary calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase levels” in 1996. She became assistant professor in 1998, associate professor in 2002 and professor in 2008. She is still working as a faculty member and head of the department at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics. She has been working in the scientific committees of the Ministry of Health for more than twenty years. He has national and international publications and chapters in Turkish books. He is interested in dental cavity, dental anomalies, systemic, genetic diseases and oral health, public oral health and protective programs.

Pediatric Dentistry Approach to Children with Cleft Lip and Palate

Cleft lip and palate is one of the most prevalent congenital head and neck defects in the World.
Because of medical and oral health conditions, children with cleft lip and palate have struggled with functional, esthetic, phonetic and physchological problems. They need numerous treatment modalities including surgical, medical and dental interventions. Treatment planning and timing is determined with different specialists and multi-disciplinary work is practised.Pediatric dentists play significat role in this multi-disciplinary team.
Pediatric dentists provide not only optimal oral hygiene for the children with cleft lip and palate but also help coordination of many aspects of the treatment. The aim of this presentation is to mention about the pediatric dentistry approach to the children with cleft lip and palate.
