Having completed thousands of cases in 3 different continents and 6 countries including England, Scotland and Australia. Dr Mo has vast experience in the field of adult and children’s Orthodontics encompassing 19 years. He has a particular interest adult orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, miniscrews, clear aligner, digital orthodontics and lingual orthodontics. As a highly qualified Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Mo worked as an honorary lecturer in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney in Australia, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh/ Scotland and Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics in UAE. He is a visiting lecturer at many universities and institutes in Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Iraq, and Egypt. Dr Mo has been recently appointed as Honorary Professor in Orthodontics at the University of MDC in Pakistan.

After graduating with honours as a dentist in 1998, Dr Mo went on to achieve specialty orthodontic training; an MSc in Orthodontics with distinction; which he followed with an MSc in Healthcare Administration with merit from the USA, Doctorate in Clinical Orthodontics (DClinDent. Orth.) qualification with distinction from Glasgow/ UK and a Postgraduate Certificate in Systematic Review in Health (PGCert.SysRev.Health) qualification with merit from Portsmouth/ UK. Dr Mo completed Postgraduate Certificate degree in Medical Education (PGCert.MedEd.) from the University of Dundee/ UK in 2018.

He undertook further advanced training in Orthodontics at Eastman Dental Hospitals/ University College of London and Oxford University Hospitals NHS foundation trust treating complex cases such as those with severe hypodontia, jaw deformity, cleft lip and palate and patients with the craniofacial syndrome.

Dr Mo has acquired 10 diplomas of memberships and fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ireland, England, and Australasian. He has also been awarded multiple accolades and merits in his studies and research to further facilitate his experience and was awarded the Gold Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthodontics for the most meritorious performance among more than 80 candidates worldwide.

As an evidence-based clinician, Dr Mo has now participated and/ or published over 40 research publications and many clinical audits on a variety of aspects of Orthodontics and has written various invaluable theses , in addition supervising theses of others. He participated and spoke in countless scientific events around the world including Australia, Egypt, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Romania, Slovakia, Kingdom of Bahrain, USA, UAE and UK.

Dr Mo is a fellow and member of many worldwide societies including the British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society, American Association of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedic, World Federation of Orthodontics, Academy of Clinical Educators of the Royal College of Glasgow of Physicians and Surgeons, Life Member of Lebanese Orthodontic Society and others.

Dr Mo is passionate about basing his treatments on producing a healthy foundation with functional aesthetic orthodontic outcomes. All suggested treatment plans are based upon researched evidence and customized according to the difficulty and aesthetic end result required. Dr Mo also carries out a 2D and 3D digital photographic and cephalometric analysis, this ensures a resulting harmonious bite. He endeavours to enhance his recommended treatment plans using cutting-edge technological advancements in a pragmatic and realistic way. He can also use 3D imaging for diagnosis and facilitating his treatment planning. a unique treatment planning process that enables him to achieve outstanding results.

In his spare time, Dr. Mo enjoys travelling, cycling and watching newly released Disney Movies with Dr Libi and their three daughters.

Summary of Speech
More than a century on, the screw of RME keeps turning. What do we know so far?

The presentation will focus on (1) the effectiveness of different types of RME designs hybrid and MARME designs, (2) airway effects of RME, (3) the timing to start RME treatment, and (4) the effectiveness of the new RME protocol (Alternate Rapid Maxillary Expansion and Constriction, Alt-RAMEC). The presentation will be supported by projects’ findings in which the speaker participated, either published or is in press in a peer-reviewed journal.

The learning outcomes of the presentation are:

  • Provide an overview of RME designs,
  • Understand the modern expansion protocols,
  • Criticise the claimed side effects of RME, and
  • Familiarise with the clinical applications of RME.
